Dive Sites

Above and below, the waters of Samoa correspond to the dreams of the tropical South Seas.
Divers will meet unaffected coral reef gardens and a unique marine world.
Enter our world......DIVE SAVAII

Turquoise lagoons at Samoa, with Dive SavaiiAll islands of the island group of Samoa are surrounded by a protecting reef. Separated from the surrounded seam reef, beautiful snorkeling areas of turquoise blue lagoons encircle most of the islands.

Towards the open seas, the external reef breaks the water, forming a white foam belt around the snow-white beaches of Samoa. Inside and outside of this seam reef, which is like a shield around the islands, there are a number of outstanding dive sites.

Samoa is a diving area where you will find a variety of underwater inhabitants - green turtles, eagle rays, clown fish families, nudibrancs, a wide variety of colourful reef fish & much more. Common corals found are mainly a wide assortment of hard coral structures, with a few soft coral varieties. Our most favourite dive sites are found in the lagoon just off the beach - 'Wreck Juno' & other various sites where you can see beautiful corals, or explore swim-throughs & canyons. Outside the lagoon,
there are many areas that are still to be explored -
'Larva Fields', Safotu Bay and scattered pinnacles in the open sea.

Come & join us on these explorations!

Dive Sites

"Wreck Juno"

The wreck "Juno" is one of Dive Savaii's favourite spots, only a 5 minute boat trip from shore. This was a 3 mast missionary sailing ship which sunk in Lelepa bay in 1881. This iron wreck is full of corals, where one can easily see trumpet fish, turtles and a wide variety of colourful reef fish, parrot fish, yellow snappers, big-eyes and much more. The max. depth one reaches here is 25 meters. A most enjoyable dive site, got to be dived!!!

"Coral Gardens"

A 2 minute boat ride and you enter the coral world. Here you will witness nature's architecture at its best. This dive site consists of a huge variety of corals: cabbage coral, bubble coral, leather coral, head coral, purple coral… you can reach a max depth of 18-20 meters, following the reef wall, enjoying the coral along with its inhabitants. Big schools of parrot fish, snappers, lazy turtles, eagle rays… sea cucumbers, nudibrancs, clown fish, star fish and if you have a quick eye, the titan trigger fish. The shallower surrounding waters offers another great site for snorkeling.

"Lelepa Bay"

Lelapa Bay, with Dive SavaiiThis is the ideal dive site for those of you who are experiencing diving for the first time or need to get 'comfortable' again. As an experienced diver, you can enjoy a super long dive. The max. depth being 10 meters, with a reef wall and sandy bottom. We call this our 'nursery': here you will find juvenile trigger fish and scorpion fish to small jenkin rays, families of clown fish and a variety of juvenile reef fish. Of course, the 'mamas and papas' are around as well. One must keep a look out for the sand dwellers such as lizard fish, goby and shrimp. The smaller inhabitants such as Spanish dancers, nudibrancs and star-fish are very often seen. Here you will get a chance to see hard and soft coral. This is also an ideal spot for snorkeling.

There are still a variety of other dive sites which we will be adding to this page soon!

To preserve the uniqueness and beauty of the underwater world,
there are some BASIC RULES to be followed,
both for the protection of the divers and the underwater world:

Underwater 'fishing' is not allowed.
Look but DO NOT touch.
Respect the marine life homes as you would your mothers.
In other words, sit back and enjoy the show.
