	September 2007 Dive Master Internship experience I came to Savai'i as an Open Water diver with only ten dives and no knowledge of Samoan life. Two and a half months later I am leaving as a divemaster with over 70 dives and a greater knowledge and respect for scuba diving, the underwater world and fa'a Samoa. I have just finished completing an internship with Fabien, Flavia, and Siaki at Dive Savaii.   Fabien's scuba diving expertise has molded me into a safe, confident and comfortable diver. I can now give dive briefings, lead fun dives, and feel confident handling any possible dive situations. Flavia's passion for the underwater world is infectious. From her, I have learned to identify many species of fish and better understand their way of life.My eyes have adjusted to the ways of the underwater world.   Siaki's local knowledge of the ocean and Samoa is immense. As a boat captain, he has been a generous and helpful co-worker. And as a Samoan friend, I have learned from him how to properly cut a papaya, many Samoan words and a true love for Vailima. It now touches my heart as well!   I would like to thank the Dive Savaii team as they have all been more than generous both in and out of the water. They have opened up their dive shop and their fales to me. I will forever be grateful for the months that I have spent in Savaii.
