The
PADI Assistant Instructor course is the beginning of the PADI Instructor training process. During the PADI Assistant Instructor Course, you will learn to apply your diving skills and knowledge to learning to teach the PADI System in the classroom and in confined water with the PADI Discover SCUBA Program. All Assistant Instructor Courses will be conducted by Fabien, who is a PADI Master Instructor.
The PADI Assistant Instructor Course stresses development. As a result you can relax while learning, knowing that mistakes are part of the learning process. Although there are performance requirements for successfully completing the course, there are no time limitations, so you may continue to progress under Fabien's guidance. The goal is to create a low-stress environment in which you can learn to function as a PADI Assistant Instructor. This makes the Assistant Instructor Course a challenging, yet enjoyable learning experience.
The PADI Assistant Course is also ideal preparation for the PADI Instructor Development Course. On completion of your course as an
Assistant Instructor
you will be
qualified to:

- Present academic elaboration under Instructor supervision
- May teach Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty under Instructor supervision
- May conduct Discover SCUBA independently
- May teach and certify in non-diving specialties (eg. oxygen) and Emergency First Response following the appropriate Specialty Instructor course |
Pre-requisites
- You must be at least 18 years old
- You must be a PADI Divemaster, or leadership level with another recreational diver training organization and complete a PADI Divemaster rescue and skills circuit successfully
- You must be fit for diving and submit a medical completed in the last twelve months
- You must have a minimum 60 logged dives
- You must successfully complete a knowledge and skills pre-assessment exam |
Performance Requirements
| - Complete the independent study Knowledge Reviews prior to course - Attend 6 curriculum presentations in addition to this orientation - Give at least 2 confined water teaching presentations - 2 Academics presentations - 1 Open Water teaching presentaion integrating 2 skills - Pass the PADI System, Standards & Procedure Exam |
